WIFI 6

Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that allows devices such as computers, tablets, phones, security cameras, Refrigerators, light switches, thermostats to interface with the Internet. It allows these devices to exchange information with one another, creating a network.

Latest wireless standard that’s used in wireless devices is 802.11 AX, which is more commonly known as Wi-Fi 6 which was released in 2019, and is the successor to the 802.11 AC Wi-Fi standard, which is known as Wi-Fi 5.

The main goal of Wi-Fi 6 is not just an increase in speed, but it was to make a Wi-Fi network perform better when a lot of devices are connected to it. Since more and more devices are competing for the Wi-Fi signal, it can slow down a network, because a Wi-Fi router can only communicate with a limited number of devices at a time, to meet this demand Wi-Fi 6 was developed. The older Wi-Fi 5 had a maximum speed of 3.5 Gigabit per second, but with Wi-Fi 6 the speed has been increased to 9.6 gigabits per second, which is a significant increase. This increase in speed is shared across multiple devices, and it does not mean that each of your devices will achieve this speed or this speed is on your local area network.

Wi-Fi 6 introduces some new technologies to help mitigate the issues that come with putting dozens of Wi-Fi devices on a single network. Wi-Fi 6 implements technologies like

So who would benefit from a Wi-Fi 6 router?

Well, if you have a lot of wireless devices, like perhaps 15 or more than it would be recommended getting one, especially if you have closer to 20 devices.
